For the planning of the operations of the approximately 300 pilots and 700 members of the cabin crew, the Swiss airline Edelweiss Air is relying on clever software from 1stQuad. In less than a year, a powerful cloud solution was built based on the 1stQuad’s own architecture concept “Cloud Transformation Blueprint.”

Tailor-made, individual software solution for complex operational planning in dynamic day-to-day flight operations

The operational planning for a flight company is complex. There are extensive regulations that have to be fulfilled, which, for example, have to be met. Regulate the allowed flight hours or required rest period. In addition, delayed flights, sick employees or prescribed pilot training sessions must be taken into account. A software solution for this must therefore be designed very specifically and flexibly in order to adequately map the different planning parameters and scenarios. In addition, a software architecture is required, which enables a clever, modular integration of resystems in order to aggregate the required information in a meaningful way. In the partly. hectic, dynamic day-to-day flight operations, software is also expected to provide very fast response times and ease of use.

State-of-the-art software architecture based on Microsoft Azure, Microservices. Net-Core and React

The software solution “Crew Page,” implemented by 1stQuad, is based entirely on Microsoft Azure. The resystems and microservices are synchronized via a service bus. The backend uses .Net Core, the web application for the front end was realized as a single page application with React. Further information can be found here in the Edelweiss “Crew Page” reference.
